How Does the PURE TECH 2000 System Work?

The PURE TECH 2000 incorporates a combination of our PUR-GRAV, PUR-REZ, PUR-CARB, and PUR-CLEAR filtration technologies in the PURE TECH 2000 Water Filtration System. The combination of these media's are finely tuned to the conditions of your specific water supply and will provide you with a solution for your water quality needs.

PUR-GRAV is a medium based gravel used to filter out sediment and larger particles from your water supply, as well as provide support for the riser tube in the center of the media tank.

PUR-CARB, a dual carbon media is designed to remove chlorine, taste, and odor from your water supply by absorbing it with its extremely porous surface area. This process results in a cleaner, more refreshing tasting water.

PUR-CLEAR, a cleansing media with anti-bacterial properties, removes volatile organic compounds, lead, and is a final polish to the water. The black fiberglass media tank blocks the sun and helps the PUR-CLEAR keep the system from growing algae inside the unit.

PUR-REZ, which is an ion-exchange filtration media, removes any hard water causing sediments in your water supply. As water containing various sediments and dissolved solids passes through the system, our positively charged PUR-REZ filtration media attracts any negatively charged hard water ions and exchanges them with positively charged soft water ions.

How Does the PURE TECH 2000 System Clean Itself?

After a predetermined* amount of water passes through the PURE TECH 2000 Water Filtration System, the system needs to clean itself. The PUR-GRAV needs to be back-washed to release particles and sediment trapped after being removed from the water supply, the PUR-REZ media begins to take on a negative charge, the PUR-CARB must be back-washed to release its supply of trapped chlorine removed from your water supply, and the PUR-CLEAR must be back-washed to release the trapped unwanted contaminants removed from the water supply. To ensure your system maintains performance and efficiently removes unwanted contaminants from your water supply, the system must regenerate, cleaning itself and replacing all of the negative particles it has picked up with positively charged ones. It does this by back-washing itself with a positively charged solution which "fluffs" the media allowing trapped particles to flush out of the filtration media's and replenish the system with needed positive ions. The PURE TECH 2000 Water Filtration System uses an industry leading 17.5 lbs of down pressure when cleaning the system to ensure a more thorough cleaning and flushing the contaminants down the drain. As an added safety precaution, the brine tank also contains a safety float valve to ensure it never takes on too much water at once preventing overflows.
